We are going into a period of time, unlike any we have ever experienced. Recent events have changed life as we know it. However, life has not been cancelled, and this is the perfect time to upgrade yours. It’s time to start living fully and freely, seize your God given rights. Be that person that embraces change, someone who constantly challenges themselves to grow. Never quit without having exhausted all possibilities. It is not who you are, but what you do that defines who you are. Self-mastery is true power, stay real, be authentic, stand strong with integrity.

Do or do not, there is no try. This dictum by Plato is so very apt and spot on and I hope it motivates you into action.

The beginning is the most important part of the job - plato

This is your fresh start. Shut the door firmly in the past. So important to shut that door after evaluating and exploring the self-structure, emotions, cognitions, actions and relations that keep you mired in your problem-maintenance structure. Action is called for. Mere musings of what you lack is futile if it does not birth actions that will get you what you desire.

Let the following quote by Plato guide you, “Human behaviour flows from three main sources; desire, emotion, and knowledge.” Our behaviour affects how we view and experience the world, others and ourselves, so it makes sense to familiarise yourself with the premise of the aforementioned aphorism.

The first is Desire which is defined as a strong yearning to do or have something. Desire is also associated with an intrinsic vitality feeling, a highly developed sense of physical and mental vigour. Desire is difficult because ultimately it is not under our direct control, meaning we have no access to the on/off switch. Desire motivates us in a myriad of ways such as physical desire, sexual desire, economic desire, etcetera. Creating a desire statement is ideal once you have clarity about what you want. This allows you to focus your attention on it, because the words we utter and the thoughts we think trigger our feelings and emotions that emanates a vibration signature.

Emotions are defined as a state of consciousness that is beyond visual and verbal thinking. This conscious mental reaction is subjectively experienced as an intense feeling such as anger or fear that is directed often towards a specific object. Emotion is situated at a primal, instinctual level and has a notable impact on your thoughts, behaviour and motivation. This may elicit physiological and behavioural changes in the body.

It is prudent to be aware what your emotional intelligence level is, and to do the necessary to improve it. Emotional intelligence relates to your ability to be aware of, control and articulate your emotions. Furthermore, it also relates to your ability to take care of interpersonal relationships in a compassionate and sensible manner. There is a direct correlation between the quality of the life you lead, and your emotional intelligence level.

Ask yourself “Are you thriving or merely surviving?”

Knowledge is defined as a familiarity, awareness or understanding of someone or something, such as facts, skills or objects. It also encompasses your skills and abilities. Knowledge also relates to what is learned, understood or what you are aware of. Furthermore, it is correlated to information, meaning and awareness as it exists in the human mind. Moreover, it references the condition of knowing something with familiarity through experience or association. Knowledge can be acquired in a myriad of different ways and from a plethora of sources such as perception, memory, scientific inquiry, reason, education, etcetera.

As the saying goes, "knowledge is the key to freedom".

So now that I have familiarised you with the three main sources which birth human behaviour always keep in mind the following dictum, “Behaviour is the mirror in which everyone shows their image.” Forewarned is forearmed, so keep your behaviour in check to ensure you live your best possible life.

Taking constructive steps towards that much desired new life. How can you make the world a better place for yourself and others? How do you apply your hard-won skill set to actualise full potential? Stop waiting, magic only happens through actions. Birthing the best version of yourself through building a strong and articulate sense of conviction around who you are and what you have to offer.

This will bring clarity and allow you to feel better about yourself, your skills and abilities. A strong personal foundation is necessary as it will guide and inform your actions and most importantly, knowing what must be done, does away with crippling fear.

Journaling is only helpful when it serves to clear the mind from jumbled thoughts, misgivings and doubts. This allows you to see possibilities and ways to create. Writing allows you to empty your overflowing mind and aids you in discerning viable possibilities. This allows you to pick up the scent of the one path that will enable you to commence your journey with certainty, knowing where you want to be.

It is important to have a strong sense of friendship between you and the people significant to you, in order to establish a stable foundation and connection. Therefore, get curious about what stands in the way of you and your people being as clear and communicative with one another as you could be.

Remember the thoughts you have today are seeds that could sprout into mighty trees in the future. Recognise any negative thought patterns and take positive action towards them. Keep in mind Mark Twain’s motto, “When angry, count four. When very angry, swear.” Act in a way that is beneficial to you and others. Healing is possible through open, honest conversation, both with yourself and others. You have to be willing to discard what no longer serves you in order to be in thrive mode.

The onus is solely on you to discover and follow the path that is uniquely you. Blame cannot be ascribed to parents, society, or God for not allowing you to access “the path.” Accusing others is akin to giving away your power, to believe that other people have power over you. It is a fallacy that others can hold you back and cause you despair.

Until you stop blaming others for your current state, you stand no chance of living your precious life on your own terms. When you do not require outside approval, you are at your most powerful. Always remember that nobody can disempower you, emotionally or psychologically without your permission.

To Thine Own Self be True.
