Mindfulness is an ability everybody possesses, the capacity to focus on what you’re doing, paying intentional attention to what is transpiring at this very moment. It is a moment-by-moment awareness of everything that is going on, in and around you. Learn to become present by noticing what is in and around you. Observe without judgement but rather with curiosity and acceptance.

Practicing mindfulness means monitoring thoughts, feelings and body sensations on an ongoing basis. Mindfulness practice allows you to be fully present, aware of your environment and focused on the task at hand. Whether you are walking, baking or reading, being mindful opens yourself up to your environment in a profound way. Being mindful expands your awareness which allows you to get to notice the subtle nuances of you and your environment. This will enhance your understanding for the better. Once you are fully present in what you are doing you will notice heightened senses. You will notice the rhythm of your breathing, the shapes, colours in your environment in a manner that you have never done before. Though innate, regular practice allows for accessibility to be on auto-pilot as it becomes integrated in your way of being, like second nature.

In this time of uncertainty this process helps you practice being in the present. Living in the now can pave the way by helping you to navigate a whirlwind of new emotions. This will free you to focus on better ways of thinking and being. Mindfulness will help you to flourish, as well as nourish your soul.

Overnight changes happening on a global scale has caused many of you to re-evaluate what is important to you. Mindfulness will allow you to navigate these changes, not only with aplomb but with a deep sense of serenity. Incorporate a 3-minute mindfulness practice in your daily routine. You can implement it whilst drinking your first cuppa of the day, brushing your teeth, walking or commuting. Mindfulness can be practiced anytime, anywhere. All you need is yourself.

Yes, it does take a lot of practice, but transformation is attainable. You are constantly creating things in every moment, so decide what you want to create. Begin by nourishing your mind to change your life.
